Saturday's journey along the Tennessee River was absolutely breathtaking.
Gorgeous houses and beautiful scenery.
We stopped at the Clifton, TN marina to get fuel. Not much there as everyone is slowing down for the season. Little did we know....this was the wrong Clifton marina. Evidently they have 2 marina's and par for the course, we choose the wrong one. Gave us something else to laugh about.
The boys may have found their dream job.
This way they can be on the water 42 weeks instead of only 13.
They first have to figure out how to get the tug back in the water.
Making good time as we were going against the current.
We were able to enjoy the sunshine and 85 degree temps.
And for those of you that are asking ...yes that is me driving the boat while John took a break.
Final words....just keep it in the middle.
Our next milestone was going through the Pickwick Landing Dam.
Pickwick Landing Dam is 113 feet (34 m) high and 7,715 feet (2,352 m) long, and has a generating capacity of 240,200 kilowatts. The dam's spillway has 22 bays with a combined discharge of 650,000 cubic feet per second (18,000 m3/s).
Pickwick Landing Dam is serviced by two locks— one measuring 110 by 1,000 feet (34 by 305 m) and the other measuring 110 by 600 feet (34 by 183 m). The locks' lift raises and lowers vessels up to 63 feet (19 m) between Pickwick and Kentucky lakes.
Evening has fallen upon us and we are docking for the night at the Pickwick State Park Marina in Pickwick, TN. As usual, everything is closed for the night and we again dock and sleep at the gas docks. This hasn't been such a bad thing as we get fuel early and get on our way.
